Warren Buffett and Bill Gates tour the oil sands in Alberta, Canada
Travis Davies, a spokesman for the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers, said billionaire investor Warren Buffett, the head of Berkshire Hathaway, and Bill Gates, Microsoft's founder, visited the oil sands wanting the industry body to give a general overview of the oil sands and Canada's position in the energy world.

Report recommends new directions for Atlantic forest industry
The 18-month Atlantic Provinces Economic Council (APEC) study titled, "Building Competitiveness in Atlantic Canada's Forest Industries: A Strategy for Future Prosperity" examined the current state of forestry in the region, the impact of global market changes on the industry and specific regional challenges facing the sector. In its report, APEC made key recommendations to improve the competitiveness of the industry through government policy initiatives and private sector reforms.

New Coal-Fueled Plant Scheduled for Saskatchewan
The first coal-fueled plant capable of capturing and burying carbon dioxide will move forward this fall when Canada's
Saskatchewan Power Corp.
begins lining up vendors to build it. Requests for proposals were sent to 10 companies, SaskPower, as the utility is known, said yesterday in a statement. Canada, which will spend C$1.4 billion ($1.34 billion) on the plant, is incorporating oil recovery in the plans to offset costs, a different approach than the U.S., which canceled a similar plant last year.
